Hyundai Motor Company, frequently shortened to Hyundai Motors and frequently referred to as Hyundai, is a South Korean multinational automaker with its headquarters in Seoul. In 1967, the Hyundai Motor Company was established. Currently, the firm owns 33.88 percent of Kia Corporation and completely controls two other brands, including Genesis Motor, a division that produces luxury cars, and Ioniq, a division that produces electric vehicles. History
In 1947, the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company was created by Chung Ju-Yung (1915–2001). Later, in 1967, Hyundai Motor Company was founded, and in 1968, the Cortina, the company’s debut model, was unveiled in collaboration with Ford Motor Company. In February 1974, Hyundai hired George Turnbull, the former managing director of Austin Morris at British Leyland, to help them create their own automobile. He then engaged five additional renowned British automobile engineers. They were Peter Slater, chief development engineer, John Crosthwaite, a former BRM chassis engineer, engineers John Simpson and Edward Chapman, and body designer Kenneth Barnett. Hyundai started exporting the Pony to Canada in 1984 but not to the US since it wouldn’t meet their pollution regulations.
Sales in Canada much beyond forecasts, and at one point, it was the most popular vehicle sold there. Hyundai built their millionth vehicle in 1985. Investigation and creation
Six R&D facilities for Hyundai are spread across South Korea, Germany, Japan, and India. Additionally, designs are produced for the US in a plant in California. In Fountain Valley, California, Hyundai opened the Hyundai Design Center in 1990. The centre changed its name to the Hyundai Kia Motors Design and Technical Center in 2003 when it relocated to a new $30 million building in Irvine, California. Hyundai’s E-GMP battery electric platform will be used by Apple Car, and a partnership with General Motors is also possible.
According to renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will cooperate with Hyundai on its first Apple Car model, and if everything goes well, Apple may also partner with General Motors and the European manufacturer PSA for later versions or in other markets. Kuo confirms recent rumours of a potential Apple Car relationship with Hyundai in his most recent investor note for TF Securities, which MacRumors was able to view. Kuo also states that he thinks Apple’s initial vehicle chassis will be built on Hyundai’s E-GMP battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform. The E-GMP, which was unveiled in December, features up to two motors, a five-link rear suspension, an integrated drive axle, battery cells with a range of over 500 km when fully charged, and high-speed charging that can complete 80% of the charge in just 18 minutes.
